January 16, 2007 Board Meeting Minutes:
                      
Attendees: Tiffany Nickel, James Watson, Barney Hoss, Mark Seaver, and Jenny Kreutzer

November 06 Minutes: Minutes were unanimously approved as corrected.

Treasurer’s report: Have not yet received a 1099 from the bank for interest earned. There are a few items that haven’t been received, but since the accounting is primarily the cash method, those items will go on the 2007 records:             

  • A check for $3K (donation)
  • Hockey jersey sold on the web-need to get with Nick Taylor to see where the money is
  • Income from the second session of tennis lessons

Final financial statements were emailed out to the board members on 1/15/06. Dennis gave hockey jersey to Bill Taylor as appreciation.

Barney accepts amended motion to get Dennis Brungardt a $’s gift certificate to Outback Steakhouse for his work for WSI over the past years. Mark Seaver seconded the motion. Unanimously approved.

Old Business:

  • Fundraising Contacts: Follow-up calls need to continue
    • Tiffany and Barney to meet with Don Dawyer about Challenge Aspen funds.
    • Jenny to follow up with Sams and Wal-Mart this week.
  • Tennis Tournament: Grady not present for update
  • Sports Chair: Barney meeting with Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) to see if we can get money for chair/bike. Will know in a couple of weeks. Currently looking at a Shark that costs $2548.15 or $1550 for an All Court (with no upgrades). Prices are as of today, likely to go up as spring gets closer. Shipping probably not included in the All Court Price. Decided to wait until we hear back from CMN before making a decision on purchasing a chair.
  • Handcycle: Currently looking into purchasing an additional bike for the club. Need to wait until we hear from CMN before we move forward.
  • Annual Meeting: Saturday, January 20, 2007
    • T-Shirts and Visors will be available for sale; $10/shirt and $10/visor. Barney moved and Mark seconded.
    • Dennis Brungardt and Jenny Kreutzer to help with sign in, paying, and waivers
    • Agreed to give a WSI Polo shirt to Todd and Ann Anderson
    • Motioned by James and seconded by Barney for the board members to be reimbursed for their purchase of a WSI embroidered polo shirt. James to get them. Total cost of $14/shirt, one per board member with no more than 9/year.
    • Elections
      • Will have a volunteer sign up sheet and an interested in board sign up sheet
      • Decided that we’d have the current 5 board members on a revolving motion
      • Ballot will include the nominees and will entertain motion from the floor for additional nominees.
    • Food: Barney has to work, so he will be late. Mark and/or Todd will pick up the pizza. James will call Little Caesars back regarding the price. Coca Cola donating the soda. James and Tammy will bring the soda, ice, and coolers.
    • Agenda:
      • Hockey Game: March 20th at the Heskett Center. Hockey practice on Monday nights at 6 p.m. at the Heskett Center beginning 1/22/07. Ticket prices will be discussed on Saturday (Nick)

  • Thank You (Cheatham/Wallace): It was moved by Barney and seconded by James to spend $’s for appreciation gift. Tiffany to arrange.

New Business     

  • Sponsor money commission: Tiffany and Jenny recommend starting up a commission policy for board members on new money brought in to the organization. Barney wondered what impact that would have to the 501C status. Board members need to research this opportunity. The discussion was tabled until additional information can be gathered.
  • Hockey Game: March 20th at the Heskett Center. Hockey practice on Monday nights at 6 p.m. at the Heskett Center beginning 1/22/07.

Next meeting: February 20, 5:45 p.m. at the new west side YMCA.
