March 13, 2007 Board Meeting Minutes
                      
Attendees: Tiffany Nickel, James Watson, Rebecca Strickert, Joe Myers, Adam Keiss, Ryan Muller, Barney Hoss, and Jenny Kreutzer. Guests: Grady Landrum, Nick Taylor, Todd and Ann Anderson

Brief Introduction of All Board Members

February 2007 Minutes: Minutes were unanimously approved as read.

Old Business:

  • Thunder vs. Plunder, March 20th, game at 7 p.m. at the Heskett Center
    • Turn in ticket $ received for selling tickets to date. All money due to Rebecca/Grady night of the game
      • Tickets are $4/adult and $2/kid. Adam Keiss family working door collecting and selling
    • Concessions: Boy Scout troop will be there to sell concessions and help with setup.
    • Shirts/Jerseys – Ryan and Tyler Fix’s sister will man the station. Joe will bring the shirts/jerseys to the game.
    • NSM-Equipment: Done – rep will be there for repair
    • Setup/clean up – Mark, Ryan, Joe, Ron Wade, Grady, Nick . . . Joe and Ann will come on Wednesday to help get bleachers back to Coleman Tennis Center.
    • Promotion: KAKE TV, B98 have been contacted
    • Pre-exhibition night at a Thunder game. Wayne, Mark, Grady, and Nick will attend a game prior to the exhibition to drum up more support of the event. Grady will call Tyler.
    • Auction—Mark S./Tiffany’s friends, Darla/Jason will write receipts and collect/count all money that night from auction as well as tickets, shirts, concessions. Jason will deposit money into the bank.
    • Hockey forms: Rebecca made forms up to help facilitate the different aspects of the fundraiser.
    • Post Game outing at a Thunder Game. Motioned by Jenny and 2nd by Barney to have a Night with the Thunder on their last home game, March 25 at 5:05 p.m. WSI will pay for the WSI member tickets. Guest tickets will be discounted to $10/person. It was approved. Jenny will create flyer and mail them to the member distribution on Wednesday, March 14. The deadline to request tickets is Thursday, March 22nd. Nick is the contact person.
  • Sponsor Request
    • James is working on a Spirit grant; waiting on clarification from Spirit on a tax form question.
    • Barney working on setting up meeting with CMN.
    • All calls must be complete
  • Maureen Connolly update and Tennis clinic        
    • Received $300 to be used towards tennis lessons this summer
    • Participants need to fill out waiver form
    • Grady will finalize date for Tennis Clinic and will email the board
  • Tennis-June 22-24th at Riverside Tennis Center
    • Grady will do a mock up of the brochure
    • Jenny will work on arranging hotels and getting a discounted price
  • Junior Chair and Hand cycle Purchase: They have been ordered. Spent a little over $4,100. This includes an additional $25 off the already 38% discount.
  • Basketball and Venture Crew – Jenny to call group of people interested and let them know about the Basketball clinic at KSU. Then Jenny and Joe will schedule a shoot around for local participants in April. Possible scrimmage in June with KC.

    • Google checkout now available
    • Member news updates
    • You can register as a member, do Frappr map and be registered to add photos to the album.
    • Make sure you update your email account

New Business     

  • Ryan’s business fundraising proposal – Ryan would like to have a month where he can publicize WSI and all the business that he has in that month he will give a portion of to WSI. Jenny motioned and Rebecca 2nd to promote the month long event in June via postcards to our members. The month the fundraising will occur is July. Ryan is going to put a commercial together and may ask some of the WSI board members to participate.
  • Officer Elections –
    • President – Motioned by Barney and 2nd by Rebecca for Tiffany to continue on as President
    • Vice President – Motioned by Barney and 2nd by Ryan for James to continue on as Vice President
    • Treasurer – Motioned by Jenny and 2nd by Adam for Rebecca to serve as Treasurer
    • Secretary – Motioned by Barney and 2nd by Rebecca for Jenny to continue on as Secretary
  • Wheelchair Boccia – April 28th Pittsburg KS
    • Reimbursement for WSI Rep? No one expressed interest in going. Will put the information on our website in case any member is interested.
  • AT Conference in Topeka, April 17 and 18th
    • Free Booth Rental, mileage, and hotel accommodations. Tammi, James, KC Road and Track, and possible Tiffany will be there.
    • Ryan is on the board for the AT Conference via ILRC. He will ask if they can waive the fees for WSI at that event as well.
  • KSU Wheelchair Basketball Clinic – Jenny will contact the players that she knows is interested. She will call them and send them the flyer via email.
  • Reimbursement for mileage to/from the KC Disability Roundtable for James attending on behalf of WSI. It was moved by Jenny and 2nd by Rebecca for WSI to reimburse James for those miles as determined by map quest.
  • It was moved by Joe and 2nd by Jenny to allocate $500/year for routine maintenance repairs on WSI equipment.
  • James wanted the group to be aware of the Wichita Cycle Fest coming up May 4, 5, and 6. He will prepare a budget and present it next meeting.
  • Since the AT Conference is one the same day as next month’s meeting, it was moved by Ryan and 2nd by Rebecca to move the meeting to April 24th. It was approved.

Next meeting: April 24th, 5:45 p.m. at Via Christi Rehab (OLOL).
